Tourist wayfinding and information system

Solitaire City Information System

Solitaire combines urban furniture and digital wayfinding into an elegant information platform that blends almost invisibly into the cityscape.

Solitaire is both wayfinder and urban furniture. It consists of several identical information steles placed at important crossroads in the city, providing tourists and locals with an elegant and contemporary approach to finding their way to important tourist destinations and service facilities. The individual information element consists of a stele made of concrete stone with a digital display. The city map on the display can be individually scaled via a multi-touch control and is therefore also barrier-free. Shopping facilities, restaurants, museums and theatres or suggestions for themed walking routes are shown on the display. If the user touches individual sights, a pop-up menu provides important details about the selected location. What seems to grow naturally out of the stone ground is no longer an external element in the urban landscape. The column takes a step back, blends in with its surroundings and becomes almost invisible. The only thing visible is the pure information surface in the form of a large-format „tablet PC“.

The columns and information panels are resistant to vandalism, urine, weather and scratching. An anti-graffiti coating provides additional protection.
