The Flow of Capital: The ECB as an Anchor of Stability

An incessant flow of capital, currencies, and global commodities: the fundamental mechanisms of the European monetary economy are rendered physically tangible here through an immersive, sculptural video installation. Serving as the backbone of the exhibition architecture, a meandering, luminous ribbon winds sculpturally through the visitor centre. Crafted from cutting-edge, transparent, and flexible monitors, it carries an endless, kinetic stream of data, numbers, information, and objects through the space. These visual elements emerge, condense into clusters, dissolve, and continuously reshape—a fascinating economic cycle that associatively symbolizes the complex interplay between monetary policy, productivity, and societal prosperity.
At the heart of this media stream, circular, table-height exhibition modules invite visitors to engage in interactive macroeconomic simulations: How do corporations, private households, and the state interact in generating the gross national product? What strategic leverage does the European Central Bank (ECB) possess to steer a monetary policy necessary for long-term financial stability? Furthermore, the visitor centre effortlessly dismantles any language barrier: utilizing an integrated RFID chip within the admission ticket, the exhibition automatically adapts to each guest, guiding them through this universe of information in their own native language.
