In the 19th century, Sayner Hütte used its skilful craftsmanship to produce functional and beautifully shaped iron objects, which were mass-produced and are now on display here in the former product magazine. The art casting gallery provides an insight into the product range of Sayner Hütte and its „sister factories“ in Gliwice and Berlin. In addition to durable everyday objects, the exhibition shows filigree pieces of jewellery, busts and statues, New Year’s plaques, garden chairs and even a small iron housefly. It is dedicated to their history and their stories. Film stations and additional image, text and audio content via the chatbot enhance the educational offer. The permanent exhibition in the new Kunstgussgalerie is divided into four stations: Labour and Raw Materials, Form and Function, Iron with History and Branding. There is also a special exhibition area with changing exhibitions. Particular emphasis was placed on integrating the exhibition into the historic building: The architecture of filigree iron struts, plinths, large-scale graphics and all-glass showcases forms a separate exhibition level that blends harmoniously into the existing building; it organises the space and at the same time leaves the necessary free space in which each exhibit, whether large or small, can unfold its respective aura.
