From Historic Barn to Exhibition Space: This permanently accessible exhibition in Weißbach Nature Park vividly and sustainably explores the differences between managed forests and natural forests, past and present.
From an old construction barn, a former storage building for timber, the so-called Schaustadl was created: an information center of the Weißbach Nature Park about local forestry and alpine farming. The exhibition illustrates the differences between managed forest and natural forest – both in the past and today. A freestanding, walkable platform was inserted into the historic building structure, deliberately maintaining a distance from the listed building out of respect and for protection reasons. The platform is surrounded by seating and information elements with integrated display cases. The Schaustadl is a permanently accessible exhibition, open day and night, without supervision. All components are therefore designed to be extremely simple and robust. The exhibition is ecologically sustainable through the use of laser engraving: the information is burned into the natural wood without the use of solvents or pigments.
