With the redesign of its collection, the Kunstpalast Düsseldorf offers a fascinating encounter with art and history. The protection of the exhibits is central to the design: a secondary wall layer shields the artworks from direct daylight, while passive and active climate control combined with low-UV lighting ensure optimal preservation conditions.
The exhibition is designed to be highly accessible, welcoming visitors of all backgrounds and levels of prior knowledge. For blind and visually impaired guests, tactile stations allow selected works to be experienced through touch. The physical visit can be seamlessly enhanced by digital features. An AR web app provides in-depth background information, artist biographies, plain-language texts, and audio transcriptions, while interactive media stations and a digital timeline bring the history of the museum to life. These digital offers specifically cater to younger audiences as well.

An intuitive guidance system ensures easy navigation for all visitors, regardless of their individual needs. Furthermore, a modular design concept utilizing standardized yet highly versatile wall and furniture systems allows the exhibition spaces to be easily adapted for changing concepts and temporary exhibitions.
