How did the Romans live in a frontier fort on the Rhine, the Limes? How did they defend Roman-occupied Germania in the 3rd and 4th centuries against the invading Franks?
The museum answers these questions in the interior and exterior of the former fort. Spectacular archaeological finds on site prove this. Scientifically reconstructed images and models bring these objects to life. Interactive maps show the development of the first Roman camp on the Rhine, the Schleifung of the Kastell in the Middle Ages and today’s museum building. Outside, paving stones mark the location of the former walls, towers and gates. An interactive telescope invites visitors to take a virtual journey through time. Visitors can see how the fort has changed over the centuries.
