Across 2,200 square meters, the exhibition makes the diversity and contemporary relevance of the Bauhaus tangible, opening up new approaches to its objects, ideas, and legacy through changing perspectives.
Concept, design and museum planning for the initial installation on behalf of the Foundation of Weimar Classics, 3rd place in the realisation competition.
The Weimar Bauhaus period, its development and dissemination are presented on an exhibition area of around 2,200 square metres. The varied dramaturgy of the exhibition spaces makes the diversity of the Bauhaus objects visible. An exhibition depot is located in the basement. The main idea of the n/t/k concept is to look at the exhibits from multiple perspectives and in a multi-dimensional way, thus raising questions such as: „How was a Bauhaus object perceived then, how is it perceived today, is it more of an everyday object or a cult object, is it really design, craft or rather a product of social change? In addition, free-standing frames with information that can be turned on and off offer different perspectives and contextualisations, depending on the viewpoint of the object placed in the frame.
The Schaudepot is an interactive workshop and depot at the same time. The exterior walls of the depot space consist of room-high display cases. In the interior of the glass depot, visitors can experience the development and decision-making processes of the Bauhaus workshops using models or exponents from the surrounding showcases.
