An oversized cocoa bean marks the beginning of a journey through the global world of cocoa—from the plantations to the chocolate bar, exploring themes of enjoyment, trade, and responsibility.
The „world tour of cocoa“ at the Chocolate Museum begins with an oversized cocoa bean as the first exhibit. Covering over 600 square metres, the newly designed exhibition is all about the cultivation, transport, production and consumption of cocoa and chocolate. „Sustainability“ runs like a red thread through the entire exhibition. The central theme of the concept is to focus on the origin of chocolate: The cocoa bean is an employer for millions of people and one of the global players in the world economy. It is a long way from the field to the chocolate bar.The bean has travelled many kilometres, many hands have transported and processed it until it finally melts on the tongue.Chocolate connects people. A connection that means pleasure and enjoyment – but also responsibility.
